The Saudi Council of Ministers, in its last session chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, designated March 27 of each year as an official day for the Saudi Green Initiative. The Council praised the United Nations General Assembly for adopting a resolution on "Measures to Combat Islamophobia" and for appointing a special envoy for the organization to address "Islamophobia," reiterating Saudi Arabia's support for international efforts to combat extremist ideologies and cut off their funding. It emphasized the country's commitment to promoting and adopting values of peace and dialogue, as well as enhancing a culture of coexistence among peoples to achieve global peace and prosperity.
The Council welcomed the outcomes of the international conference organized by the Muslim World League in Mecca, titled "Building Bridges Between Islamic Sects," and expressed gratitude to the scholars participating in the conference for their appreciation of the significant efforts made by Saudi Arabia to serve Islam and Muslims, care for the Two Holy Mosques, and support Islamic solidarity.
The Council affirmed the state's ongoing support for charitable work in the Kingdom and its aim to maximize its impact within the community, highlighting the broad engagement achieved in the early days of the fourth national campaign to support charitable work, reflecting a true spirit of solidarity and competition among benefactors in charitable acts and donations.
Additionally, the Council, under the King's leadership, prepared to record non-oil activities reaching historically high contributions to the Gross Domestic Product at 50%, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to achieve a prosperous economy through diversifying growth drivers. This also confirms the success in implementing the Vision's programs and major projects by opening new sectors that contribute to increasing growth rates.
In terms of decisions and approvals recently endorsed by the Council, it was agreed that the Royal Commission for the City of Mecca and the Holy Sites would oversee the King Abdulaziz Center for Space Science and Moon Sighting, the Mecca Clock, and the domestic and international moon sighting observatories. The Council also approved an agreement to establish a headquarters between the Government of the Kingdom and the International Monetary Fund to create a regional office for the Fund in Riyadh.
Furthermore, among the Council's key decisions was the approval of a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi and Egyptian Ministries of Finance to establish high-level financial dialogue.
