Yesterday, Monday, the Gulfood 2024 exhibition kicked off at the Dubai World Trade Center, the largest annual exhibition in the food and beverage sector worldwide. This year's edition is the biggest in its history and will continue until February 23, featuring more than 5,500 exhibitors and visitors from over 190 countries around the globe.
The Dubai World Trade Center is the main hub for exhibitions and conferences, a field in which Dubai has excelled, making it one of the primary destinations worldwide. The center hosts and organizes major events that attract hundreds of thousands of exhibitors, participants, and visitors. The sector is a vital contributor to the emirate's economy and its D33 economic agenda, which aims to double Dubai's economy and position it among the top three economic cities in the world over the next decade, increasing its total foreign trade volume to 25.6 trillion dirhams for goods and services by 2033.
In 2022 alone, the Dubai World Trade Center welcomed more than 1.98 million participants and visitors, reflecting the significant momentum it experienced in the number of events within the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions sector, as well as commercial and consumer events, with a total of 244 events, including 97 exhibitions and conferences. The center also attracted over 37,000 exhibiting companies, 72% of which were international firms.
