Egypt's Head of the State Information Service, Diaa Rashwan, firmly denied what was reported by an American newspaper claiming that Egypt had discussed with Israel its plans to invade Rafah. Rashwan confirmed "Egypt's consistent and publicly stated position several times by the political leadership, completely rejecting this invasion which would lead to massacres, massive human losses, and widespread destruction, adding to the suffering endured by the Palestinian people in Gaza during the 200 days of brutal Israeli aggression."
He also clarified that "Egypt's repeated warnings had reached the Israeli side through all channels since the idea of carrying out a military operation in Rafah was proposed, due to the anticipated losses, as well as the severe negative repercussions it would have on the stability of the entire region."
Rashwan added: "While Israel is contemplating this invasion, which Egypt, along with all countries and international organizations, opposes, the continuous Egyptian efforts since the outbreak of Israeli aggression are focused on reaching a ceasefire agreement and exchanging prisoners and detainees, as well as facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid to our brothers in Gaza sufficiently, especially in its northern areas and the city of Gaza, and evacuating more injured and sick individuals for treatment outside the Strip, where almost all healthcare services have collapsed."
