Hunter Biden Convicted on Weapons Charges

A jury in Delaware, United States, found Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, guilty on three firearm-related charges on Tuesday. The federal court in Wilmington charged Hunter Biden with three criminal counts linked to possession of a firearm while using drugs. The jury began its deliberations on Monday afternoon and deliberated for about three hours before returning the verdict. This trial marked the first involving the son of a sitting president, occurring as Joe Biden faces a reelection battle against his opponent Donald Trump in November. The penalties for two of the charges can lead to a maximum of 10 years in prison, while the third charge carries a maximum sentence of five years. Following federal sentencing guidelines, he could be sentenced to more than a year in prison, but the judge may impose a shorter or longer sentence. Additionally, each charge carries a maximum fine of $250,000. No sentencing date has been set.
