Argentina has classified the Hamas movement as a "terrorist organization." The office of President Javier Milei referenced the "October 7th attack" and Hamas's close ties with Iran, which Argentina holds responsible for two deadly attacks on Jewish sites in the country. The announcement clarified "Milei's steadfast commitment to recognizing terrorists for what they are," adding that "this is the first time there is a political will to do so." According to the Associated Press, this step is symbolic as Milei seeks a strong alliance between Argentina, the United States, and Israel. Since taking office in December, Milei has positioned himself firmly as a close ally of Israel with outspoken support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite the significant global pressures on Israel due to its military campaign in Gaza.
