The White House announced that "U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone today, Sunday, and agreed to "continue working to secure the release of all hostages." Netanyahu informed Biden that "Israel will resume its campaign in Gaza with full force once the temporary ceasefire ends." However, he added that he "would welcome an extension of the ceasefire if it facilitates the release of 10 additional hostages each day, as agreed upon in the original deal brokered by Qatar."
For his part, Biden announced that Hamas released a four-year-old American hostage in Gaza," adding that he "hopes the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian movement will lead to continued exchanges of detainees." He clarified that "hostage Abigail Aidan witnessed the death of her parents at the hands of Hamas fighters during the group's attack on southern Israel on October 7 and has been held hostage since then."
Biden stated, "What (the child) has endured is unimaginable," and announced that he "will speak later today with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu." The White House had indicated that "Joe Biden will speak to Benjamin Netanyahu about the hostages at 12 PM Eastern Time."
