Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elias Bou Saab expressed regret over "the situation we have reached and the need to intervene to resolve a dispute between the Army Commander and the Ministry of Defense." In an interview with MTV, Bou Saab stated that "the law is clear regarding the authority of Minister of Defense Maurice Sleem to decide to open a course for the benefit of the military academy and conduct the examination, as well as to sign the acceptance of successful applicants." He noted that "there are always issues between defense ministers and the Army Commander due to the lack of respect for the law," emphasizing that "work is underway on a settlement that involves accepting successful candidates at the military academy and opening a course to accept others, which could number up to 200, but this is not the best solution."
