Berri: The Situation in the Region is Extremely Grave

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri pointed out that "the situation in the region is extremely grave, not just in the Middle East, and what is happening threatens Europe and global peace." Berri explained in an interview with the renowned Catholic newspaper "Avvenire" that "despite the mistakes made by American President Joe Biden, we have heard statements confirming that the United States does not support war on Lebanon, as the consequences would be catastrophic for Lebanon and the region." Regarding the presidential vacuum, Berri noted that he asked the heads of parliamentary blocs to open a dialogue to reach an agreement on contentious issues within 7 to 10 days at the latest. It is worth mentioning that "Avvenire" is the official voice of the Italian bishops' conference (CEI) and has the greatest influence on Christian public opinion.
