The founder of the Russian private military group "Wagner," Yevgeny Prigozhin, warned that Russia could face a revolution similar to that of 1917 and lose the war in Ukraine if the elite do not take the conflict seriously. In an interview published on his Telegram channel, Prigozhin stated, "Ukraine is preparing a counter-offensive aimed at pushing Russian forces back to the borders of 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea," noting that "Ukraine will attempt to besiege Bakhmut and launch an attack in Crimea."
He added, "This scenario is likely not in Russia's favor, so we need to prepare for a tough war; we are in a situation where we could lose Russia, this is the main problem. We need to impose martial law."
Prigozhin also pointed out that "the Russian elite protect their children from participating in the war, while the children of the general populace perish on the front lines, which could lead to unrest in Russia." He believes that "if ordinary citizens continue to receive the bodies of their sons while the elite enjoy the sun on trips abroad, Russia will face disturbances similar to the 1917 revolution that sparked a civil war."
