Education in the Southern Border Areas: New Decisions by Al-Halabi

Minister of Education and Higher Education in the caretaker government, Abbas Al-Halabi, chaired an extensive educational and administrative meeting discussing education in the border regions. Al-Halabi reviewed the results of communication between the administration and the educational areas, as well as with school principals whose students and teachers have been displaced. He emphasized the importance of caring for the steadfast students and teachers in the border villages and urged them to register on the platform designated by the ministry for this purpose to ensure education for everyone based on their circumstances.

Al-Halabi decided to "assign the administration to be physically present on the ground in the south and to follow up on the data indicating education through response schools, as well as distance education and using any method necessary." He also decided to "personally head to the south and encourage steadfast students in their villages to register, which would allow them to obtain tablet devices available at the ministry, as well as laptops for the teachers to enable them to continue their education remotely."

Regarding official certifications, the attendees raised the topic, and Al-Halabi tasked the head of the educational center with developing a comprehensive project for this phase that aligns with the future vision outlined in the educational curriculum development project. This includes assessment and extracting indicators, which will be discussed at the ministry in collaboration with private educational institutions, followed by a test for a sample group and analyzing its results to extract indicators related to learning outcomes, evaluation accuracy, and the evolution of its mechanisms. The goal is to formulate a draft decree for the final version to be completed and adopted.

Al-Halabi also stressed the importance of "measuring academic achievement through effort results and quarterly and final grades, to be studied within the context of the project the educational center is working on, in addition to the format of the national exam." He underscored the necessity of "making concentrated efforts to deliver education to displaced and steadfast students and to provide the means for that through all available technical and traditional resources."
