The Nasser City Misdemeanor Court has set a date for the verdict in the case filed by Moroccan player Mohamed El-Sheibi of Pyramids against Al-Ahly player Hussein El-Shahat, with the session scheduled for May 30. El-Sheibi filed a lawsuit against El-Shahat, accusing him of insult and defamation due to an incident where the Al-Ahly player slapped El-Sheibi in the face following the match between the two teams on July 23, 2023, in the Egyptian Premier League, where Pyramids won 3-0.
El-Shahat's lawyer requested a three-month postponement of the case and sought to refer it to the High Constitutional Court, while El-Sheibi's lawyer demanded a three-month imprisonment for the Al-Ahly player for assaulting his client. The Public Prosecution had ordered the transfer of Hussein El-Shahat to the competent court for prosecution regarding the allegations made by Moroccan player Mohamed El-Sheibi that he assaulted him on the pitch at the Defense Stadium, with an initial court session set for April 18 to examine the case.
El-Shahat received a two-match suspension penalty from the Clubs Association, while El-Sheibi resorted to the Egyptian judiciary, accusing the Al-Ahly star of assault and insults, despite the latter's earlier apology, which El-Sheibi had accepted.
