Army Pursues Passenger Bus on Cheikhlar - Manjez Public Road in Akkar: One Dead and Injured

A force from the Lebanese Army's Border Regiment pursued a minibus on the Cheikhlar - Manjez public road in Akkar around midnight last night. The bus was carrying 13 people, 12 of whom were of Syrian nationality and had managed to enter illegally through one of the unauthorized border crossings at the course of the Great River. During the chase, the driver lost control of the bus, which overturned, injuring all those aboard. Six vehicles belonging to the Lebanese Red Cross were dispatched to assist the injured and transport them to Our Lady of Peace Hospital in Qbayat and to the Youssef Hospital Center in Halba. Reports indicate that one person died and two others sustained critical injuries.
