Slovenia Recognizes the State of Palestine

Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob announced today, Thursday, that his country recognizes the State of Palestine. Golob stated in a remark following a government meeting that the government decided to recognize Palestine as an independent and sovereign state based on the 1967 borders, in accordance with international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions. He added, "This decision carries only one message, which is our request to stop hostilities in Gaza and the immediate release of hostages." He continued, "This decision is not against the State of Israel or anyone else," noting that the government will refer the decision to parliament, requesting support from the members. Slovenia will recognize the "State of Palestine" next Tuesday.
