Biden Becomes More Accepting of Withdrawing in Favor of Another Candidate

The American newspaper "The New York Times" reported, citing sources close to President Joe Biden, that they believe he has begun to accept the idea that he may not be able to win the presidential election in November and may withdraw in favor of another candidate. One source told "The New York Times" that "it would not be surprising if Mr. Biden makes an announcement soon endorsing his Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement."

According to the paper, many Democrats "away from the White House" have reported that expectations are rising within the party that Biden will soon retreat from his decision to continue in the presidential race. The newspaper described the comments from these "Democrats" as a "shift from just days ago when many were in despair about his (Biden's) change of heart."

The president has challenged those calls by stating that he won millions of votes in the primary elections over the past months and that he is the choice of Democratic voters. Biden pledged on Wednesday to "give it his all" in this year's elections.
