Energy Minister Walid Fayad clarified that they have taken a "unified stance to protect the constitution and the charter and to prevent the exclusion of a fundamental constitutional and presidential component by boycotting the cabinet session on Monday." He noted that "Prime Minister Najib Mikati has never reproached me for my absence from the caretaker cabinet session."
Fayad stated to LBCI: "I support addressing people's issues but through legal means, and we acted as a united group to strengthen the national covenant." He expressed concern about a potential encroachment on the presidential position following the cabinet session.
He emphasized that "the circumstances do not allow for paralyzing government work, and we continue government work through constitutional means. But can the country bear the isolation of a political team with a large size and the largest parliamentary bloc? Can the country bear the isolation of a major constitutional component among the people?"
Regarding the increase in electricity supply, he confirmed that it "will be gradual and may not start with 8 to 10 hours initially." Fayad mentioned that “the amount of 600 million would secure 8 hours of electricity supply, but the Central Bank revealed that the available amount is half, which is 300 million, meaning approximately 4 hours of supply.”
