The iconic house that gained fame from the filming of "Home Alone" in 1990 is now on the market for $5.25 million. The Washington Post reported that the last sale of the house was in 2012 for $1.585 million by the family who owned it during the filming of the famous comedy. The real estate agent in charge of the sale, Katie Moore, declined to comment on the identity of potential buyers.
The house spans over 9,000 square feet and consists of 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, located a short distance from Lake Michigan in Illinois. It also features an indoor basketball court. The company managing the sale states that it is "one of the most filmed locations and among the most famous in American pop culture, and a masterpiece of traditional design." However, the house is not as it appeared in the beloved film that is often shown during Christmas, as it was fully renovated and expanded in 2018, originally built in 1921.
The house remains a major attraction for tourists, as decades after the filming of "Home Alone," it still draws fans and visitors from around the world during the holiday season. According to a previous report from the Washington Post, a fence and security cameras have been installed outside the house for added privacy.
