The head of the "Free Patriotic Movement," Gebran Basil, questioned, "How can anyone prevent the judicial police from responding to the signals of the public prosecutor, effectively paralyzing their actions? This matter belongs to the disciplinary council, not to another judge." Basil stated via the "X" platform, "It has been confirmed what we have repeatedly warned about: that judges who pursue corrupt individuals and those who have stolen depositors' funds are being targeted instead of rewarded. This is being orchestrated by the ruling system that seeks to maintain its grip on financial, economic, and judicial decisions." He further added, "Would the system have acted the same way with lazy and protected prosecutors and judges? Or has the situation degraded to the point where only the prosecutor of Mount Lebanon is being targeted, simply for daring to open files that others shy away from? So where is the forensic audit? Where is the Optimum file? Where is the internationally sought Riad Salameh, who is locally protected under this system?" The acting public prosecutor, Judge Jamal Al-Hijar, decided to suspend Prosecutor Ghada Aoun from handling the judicial files she is investigating.
