The Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid emphasized today, Wednesday, the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom. The media office of the presidency stated that "Rashid received the British ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Charles Hickey, at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad." During the meeting, the president affirmed "the importance of enhancing bilateral relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom, expanding prospects for economic, investment, and technological cooperation, and working together to address climate and environmental changes." The president noted "the security and political stability observed in the country and its positive reflections on the economic, service, and living aspects," emphasizing "Iraq's commitment to establishing balanced relations with its regional surroundings according to the principles of good neighborliness and in a manner that preserves its security, stability, and national sovereignty." For his part, the British ambassador confirmed "his country's desire to enhance cooperative and friendly relations with Iraq and to support it in the sectors of economic and social development and reconstruction."
