In another context, British opposition Labour Party leader Keir Starmer stated that "the situation in Gaza is horrific, and Israel should not proceed with its military operations in Rafah." He said, "If we come to power, our priority will be to work immediately for a ceasefire in Gaza and to end hostilities." He added, "There must be a political process through which we recognize a Palestinian state, and if we come to power, we will discuss this with our allies." He noted, "If we come to power, we will conduct a legal review to determine whether Israel is using our weapons in Rafah."
