Statement from the Ministry of Tourism Regarding Legal Licenses

The Minister of Tourism in the caretaker government, Walid Nassar, issued a circular No. 2 dated 1/5/2024, directed to the tourism establishments subject to the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism. The circular states: "Based on Decree 15598/1970 and its amendments (Decree 4221/2000 amending the provisions of Decree 15598/1970 regarding the conditions and operation of tourism establishments), based on Decree 6298/2011 (regarding the regulation of guesthouses), and based on Decree 4216/1972 and its amendments regarding the regulation of travel and tourism agencies and tourist transport, the tourism establishments subject to the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism that operate without the legal license issued by the ministry, whether they are: - establishments prepared for accommodation (hotels, tourist residences, chalets, auberges, motels, tourist resorts, youth hostels, organized camps, guesthouses, marine baths, and swimming pools) - establishments prepared to provide food and beverages (restaurants, snack bars, cafes and tea rooms, nightclubs, dance halls, bars, establishments operating outdoors) - agencies of all categories (travel and tourism agencies; tourist transport agencies; car rental agencies, event car rental agencies, ATV rental agencies, and UTV rental agencies) are requested to submit the required documents to the Ministry of Tourism to obtain the legally specified licenses, under penalty of prosecution and taking the necessary legal actions against the violating establishments."
