Body of Iraqi Tourist Found After 10 Days of Disappearance

Security forces discovered today, Thursday, the body of Iraqi tourist Azad Ahmed Hassan, born in 1981, after a large-scale search operation that lasted for four days using police dogs in the valleys, orchards, and ponds. He had been missing for ten days after arriving from Iraq with three other individuals. His body was found on a secondary road in the town of Baqaatouta, Kesrouan, and investigations have begun to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

The army's Command – Directorate of Guidance issued a statement saying: "On December 28, 2023, the intelligence directorate was able, after a series of monitoring, tracking, and technical analysis operations, to locate the body of the Iraqi citizen (A.K.) in the outskirts of Baqaatouta after it was buried by a group of individuals of different nationalities. The deceased arrived in Lebanon via Rafic Hariri International Airport on December 4, 2023, and was lured, killed, and hidden by the aforementioned group. The intelligence directorate continues the necessary investigations and criminal procedures in coordination with the relevant judiciary."
