Russian Warships in China for Drills

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today, Saturday, that two Russian warships have arrived in the coastal city of Chaozhou in southern China to participate in joint naval maneuvers between the two countries. The ministry released a video of the ships' arrival on the Telegram app and stated that "a group of ships from the Pacific Fleet will participate in the joint naval training, Maritime Interaction 2024."

It added that the first phase will take place from Monday to Wednesday and will include anti-air and anti-submarine exercises alongside Chinese aircraft specialized in anti-submarine maneuvers. The two countries regularly conduct joint military drills. Last year, a similar naval exercise was held off the coast of Alaska.
