The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants issued a statement condemning the "decision of the Israeli Knesset rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state, which constitutes a serious violation of international law, international legitimacy resolutions, and the principle of the two-state solution." It viewed this decision as a warning to the international community of the necessity to put an end to the Israeli occupation and to initiate a serious and effective political process that leads to a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution, in accordance with relevant international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative launched at the Beirut Summit in 2002. The ministry called on the international community and the United Nations to play the required role in pressuring Israel, which prevents the establishment of a viable independent Palestinian state, thereby undermining all chances for stability in the region and threatening peace and security both regionally and internationally.
