There have been conflicting reports in recent hours regarding a decision by the Egyptian government to suspend electricity load shedding during the Eid al-Adha holiday, which begins on Saturday, June 15, and continues until Thursday, June 20. The story began with comments made by Egyptian broadcaster Sherif Amer, who claimed to have received confirmed information from his sources about the suspension of electricity load shedding during the holiday, noting that no official decision had been made by Wednesday evening.
This information spread following Sherif Amer's remarks, prompting spokesperson Mohamed Al-Homsani from the Egyptian cabinet to appear on television, confirming that the idea was not discussed during the council meeting on Wednesday. Al-Homsani indicated that if any decision is made regarding this matter, it would be promptly announced, adding that the Cabinet meeting focused on increasing resources for the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy by combating electricity theft.
The Egyptian cabinet spokesperson affirmed that Mostafa Madbouly's government is committed to the plan to end electricity load shedding before the end of the current year.
