Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzouk announced that the Palestinian people are facing famine, especially in northern Gaza Strip, indicating that "Egypt must bear part of this situation, and there is significant responsibility on it." In an interview with RT Arabic, Abu Marzouk stated, "Egypt has closed the Rafah crossing on its side due to the Israeli army controlling the opposite side of the crossing," hoping that "Egypt will play a role in this matter." He expressed his hope for such involvement. Abu Marzouk added, "The Palestinian people are experiencing an unprecedented famine, and Egypt should bear part of this responsibility, which is what we hope for and request from it... that a country like Egypt, along with its brethren, sees people dying of hunger, and this is not just about the border crossing; there are larger responsibilities that Egyptians must assume."
