Arrest of Three Lebanese Men Attempting to Smuggle 20 People via Dangerous Boats

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "As part of the continuous follow-up carried out by the Internal Security Forces to combat illegal immigration activities, information was received by the Information Branch regarding unidentified individuals preparing to smuggle people from Tripoli by sea. Immediately, the relevant divisions in the branch initiated field and investigative measures to identify those involved in the smuggling operation, arrest them, and prevent the operation from occurring.

As a result of intense investigations and inquiries, the Information Branch was able to identify the smugglers, who are Lebanese individuals:

- A. G. (born in 1996), with three arrest warrants for human trafficking.

- M. T. (born in 1998)

- B. G. (born in 2003)

On May 15, 2024, after careful surveillance, one of the branch's patrols managed to spot them on the beach in the Al-Areeda area, where they arrested them in the act, along with 20 individuals of Syrian nationality who were about to be smuggled by sea. They were detained for appropriate legal action as directed by the judiciary."
