Around 6 people from the Gladiator 2 crew were injured while filming a scene from the movie, according to a spokesperson from Paramount Pictures in a press statement. The statement mentioned: "During the filming of a scene for the second installment of Gladiator, an incident occurred that nearly jeopardized the lives of several crew members. The on-site safety and medical teams acted swiftly, ensuring that the victims received the necessary care immediately, and all are in stable condition and continue to receive treatment." The statement added: "The lives of our actors and crew are of utmost importance to us, and we have strict health and safety protocols in all our productions. We will continue to monitor the situation and take all necessary precautions."
According to "Variety," the 6 crew members sustained burns, with 4 being taken to the hospital and two others receiving treatment on-site. No actors were harmed.
It is worth mentioning that this installment of the film will feature Denzel Washington and several Hollywood stars; however, Russell Crowe, the star of the first Gladiator, will be absent. In an earlier interview, according to IMDb, Crowe stated that the character "Maximus" he portrayed dies at the end of the film, explaining that the scenarios to revive the character in the second part were not good. The film will also be directed by Ridley Scott and written by David Scarpa.
