The Economic Times reported that the Indian Foreign Ministry summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to New Delhi following remarks made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Russia. Earlier, Zelensky described Modi's visit to Russia and his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin as a "blow to peace efforts."
The newspaper stated: "On Monday, India raised the issue of Zelensky's comments with the Ukrainian ambassador in New Delhi. Our newspaper learned that the Indian Foreign Ministry summoned the Ukrainian ambassador on Monday and brought up the matter with him. This clearly indicates the Indian government's displeasure with Ukraine's stance on Zelensky's remarks regarding the Indian Prime Minister."
The report noted that the Indian side also postponed a scheduled meeting of the joint working group on culture with Ukraine. On July 9, discussions took place in the Kremlin between the Russian President and the Indian Prime Minister. During the talks, Modi reiterated his readiness to contribute in every possible way towards achieving peace in Ukraine and expressed his belief that peace can only be achieved through dialogue.
Additionally, the U.S. State Department announced that the United States has informed India of its concerns regarding New Delhi's relations with Moscow in light of Prime Minister Modi's visit to Russia.
