Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a series of security meetings at the Grand Serail today to discuss the security situation in the country and the measures taken. In this context, Mikati met with the Acting Director General of General Security, Major General Elias Bechara, as well as the Director General of State Security, Major General Antoine Saliba, and the Director General of Internal Security Forces, Major General Imad Osman. The Prime Minister also met with Deputy Prime Minister Saadeh Shami.
Regarding the Council of Ministers, the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers issued the following: "The Council of Ministers, in its caretaker capacity, will hold a session at 4:00 PM on Thursday, 12/10/2023, at the Grand Serail, to discuss current developments amid the evolving situation on all fronts, in addition to presenting the periodic report on the implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 1 dated 11/09/2023 concerning the issue of Syrian displacement. Mr. Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in accordance with his constitutional duties and his sense of national responsibility, extends this invitation and places it at the disposal of all ministers to participate in the scheduled session in response to the call of national duty, especially under the delicate circumstances the country is experiencing."
