The Civil Defense Directorate in the Rania district of Sulaymaniyah reported that five members of a single family drowned in one of the sub-rivers in the region. Ali Qadir, a spokesman for the directorate, stated in a press interview that "five people from the same family, including children and women, lost their lives drowning in a sub-river in the village of (Qarni Agha) belonging to the Rania district." He added that "the victims were a rural family engaged in herding," confirming that "civil defense teams rushed to the scene of the incident and retrieved the drowned bodies."
