The Prime Minister of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, signed a memorandum of understanding with his Maltese counterpart, Robert Abela, in the field of combating illegal immigration during their meeting today, Tuesday, at the Council of Ministers headquarters in the capital, Tripoli. During the meeting, Dbeibah emphasized that Malta is a "strategic partner for Libya in various fields."
The two parties agreed on the necessity of activating memorandums of understanding and cooperation between the two countries. Both sides stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in combating transnational organized crime and illegal immigration. They also praised the electricity interconnection agreement signed between the two countries last year and agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding concerning the extradition of wanted individuals between the two countries.
