Using computer animation, a social media user produced a video showing how close the bullet was that was fired at Donald Trump, which could have ended his life or caused severe damage. The video illustrates the bullet's trajectory, which did not enter Trump's skull but instead struck just above his right ear during a massive rally for his supporters last Saturday evening. Shortly after, a Secret Service sniper shot and killed the gunman, Thomas Crooks, who targeted Trump from a building 135 meters away, despite several attendees alerting security about the suspicious presence.
The agents who prepared the security detail days before the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, were aware of the risks posed by the building, according to information gathered by "Al Arabiya" from two sources close to the Secret Service reported to NBC News. They stated that the service had identified the roof from which Thomas Crooks attempted to kill the former president days prior and considered it a potential security threat.
The Secret Service claimed that the security of the building was the responsibility of local authorities, although Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger denied this account, stating that his office deployed four sniper teams and four rapid response teams for Trump's rally. He insisted that Secret Service agents were responsible for allowing the 20-year-old Crooks to fire at the former president.
