If you're worried about not drinking enough water, a simple test can inform you if you're dehydrated. You can simply pull the skin on your belly or pinch your fingers or chest and press it for a few seconds. Then release it, and if the skin returns immediately to its normal position, it means you are adequately hydrated. Dana Brems, a podiatrist, mentioned in a TikTok video: "Pinch your finger. If it goes back to normal, you are drinking enough water. If the skin stays up, you are dehydrated."
She added, "When you are hydrated, your skin has better elasticity and quickly returns to its original shape; on the other hand, dehydration leads to reduced skin elasticity and a slower return to normal." Drinking water helps maintain collagen in the skin, which decreases with age, regardless of how much water you drink. Other signs of dehydration include extreme thirst, infrequent urination, dark urine, fatigue, dizziness, and confusion.
