Beijing Records a Record in Foreign Trade

The Chinese capital, Beijing, has recorded a record in its foreign trade amounting to 1.83 trillion yuan (approximately $256.61 billion) in the first half of 2024. Official data released by the Beijing Customs Administration showed a 3.6% year-on-year increase in the volume of imports and exports during the mentioned period, accounting for 8.7% of the country's total foreign trade. Over the first six months of this year, emerging industries became a significant contributor to Beijing's export growth, representing 27.8% of the city's total export volume. Overall, the total value of China's goods imports and exports rose by 6.1% year-on-year in yuan terms during the first half of this year.
