The World's First Robot Dog Equipped with a Flamethrower

In a somewhat strange move, Throwflame has unveiled the world’s first robot dog equipped with a flamethrower. The Thermonator is a quadrupedal robot that carries a flamethrower made by Throwflame on its back. It seems users will control the robot via a controller connected to their smartphones, similar to Backbone.

The robot uses integrated cameras to provide users with a first-person perspective, while LiDAR sensors allow it to map its surrounding environment, thus avoiding obstacles it might collide with. What Throwflame hopes will really capture everyone’s attention is the ARC flamethrower mounted on the back of the Thermonator. With a fast charger, users of this robotic dog can ignite fires anywhere around them for an hour at a time, with a range of up to 30 feet.

According to the company, the flamethrower operates using gasoline or napalm, both of which are available for purchase on the Throwflame website, and it can be operated via smartphones from a distance of up to 350 feet. Throwflame claims that its flamethrower robot dog is targeted at both public and private sectors, including fire management and prevention, agricultural management, environmental conservation organizations, snow and ice removal companies, and special effects studios.

Now, anyone who has $9,420 can purchase the Thermonator robot dog from the Throwflame website. It is worth noting that the company has not mentioned any licenses for using the robot dog or any actual restrictions limiting its deployment.
