Among the most promising projects for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is "The Line," a city designed to provide the best living conditions for its residents. This city is planned to be built along the NEOM coast in the northwest of the Kingdom, at the edge of the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea. It will consist of uniquely designed residential complexes extending 170 km in length and 200 m in width, covered on both sides with glass surfaces made of reflective mirrors to give it a unique character.
"The Line" will be constructed over an area of approximately 34 square kilometers, accommodating around 9 million people, with green spaces and plants covering a significant portion of its internal area, making it a model for modern cities that comply with environmental conservation standards.
The project is advertised as "the largest project in the history of mankind" and includes additional developments like "the longest linear city in the world," "Trojina," a global destination for mountain tourism and skiing, "Oxagon," the largest floating industrial complex in the world, "Sindalah," a luxury marine tourism destination with yacht clubs on the Red Sea, and more.
What will distinguish it most is that it will be free of traditional streets and cars, meaning it will be devoid of harmful carbon emissions, and it will rely entirely on renewable energy. The city will be designed so that anyone within it can access all necessary facilities within a 5-minute walk, and a high-speed train will connect the furthest points within "The Line" in no more than 20 minutes.
Project officials noted that "The Line" will attract brilliant elites by offering unique social and economic experiences in a city free from pollution and traffic accidents, alongside world-class preventive healthcare. Additionally, "The Line" aims to achieve the goals of "Saudi Vision 2030" in terms of economic diversification, providing approximately 380,000 job opportunities and contributing an estimated 180 billion riyals (48 billion USD) to the GDP by 2030.
