The fire that broke out last week in a fabric warehouse on the airport road, which lasted for six days, prompted the municipalities of southern Beirut to demand that warehouse owners take precautionary measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
In a statement, the municipalities urged warehouse owners to urgently declare the contents of their warehouses, as well as the protection and insurance systems used, within a maximum timeframe of one week, under the threat of legal prosecution.
They also requested the submission of a copy of the following documents and information:
1. Name and phone number of the warehouse owner, a copy of their personal ID, and a copy of the ownership deed.
2. Name and phone number of the warehouse occupant, a copy of their personal ID, and a copy of the lease agreement.
3. Warehouse address: property number, street, and building name.
4. Specification of the floors occupied by the warehouse.
5. A map for each warehouse showing: entrances, exits, ventilation shafts, corridors, distribution of goods, quantity of goods, and type of stored goods.
6. Firefighting equipment: type, validity, number, and distribution throughout the warehouse.
7. A copy of the insurance policy.
8. A copy of the license from the relevant authorities.
The municipalities warned that anyone failing to submit the above-mentioned data and documents would be subject to legal prosecution, and the facility will be closed immediately, with the owner being held responsible for any incident occurring during the closure period.
