The White House Considers "Imposing Sanctions" on Smotrich and Ben Gvir

The White House Considers

The Israeli website "Walla" revealed today, Saturday, that the White House is considering imposing sanctions on two members of Benjamin Netanyahu's government: Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir. According to the website, the White House National Security Council discussed actions against settlements and the security situation in the occupied West Bank. Among the measures being considered is the imposition of sanctions on organizations involved in building settlements and the removal of labels on products marked "Made in Israel." The American ambassador to Israel has offered to open a dialogue with Smotrich to encourage a change in his behavior. The meeting of the House Committee of the National Security Council at the White House, attended by representatives from all U.S. foreign policy, national security, and intelligence agencies, served as a sign of the American government's frustration and anger towards Israel and its policy of expanding settlements and weakening the Palestinian Authority.
