Hiba Al-Qawas, the newly appointed president of the National Higher Institute of Music, visited Minister of Culture in the caretaker government, Mohammad Wissam Al-Mortada, in his office in Sanayeh. She clarified in a statement the overall confusion occurring at the institute and the recent events concerning the board members regarding the call for conducting examinations.
She emphasized her ongoing commitment to being worthy of the trust that Minister Al-Mortada placed in her when he appointed her as the head of the institute’s board and thus assigned her the responsibility of working to revive the conservatory. Al-Qawas also reiterated her dedication to ensuring that decisions are only made by the board and that nothing is finalized without the minister’s approval according to the proper procedures.
In front of Minister Al-Mortada, she stated that she had previously adhered to this methodology and committed to maintaining it. She renewed her reliance on "his vision and her commitment to his directives to ensure success, along with all board members, in restoring the institute to its former glory."
Additionally, she expressed her desire to convene the board soon to clear the air among members and restore matters to their proper context in a way that serves the institution and its interests.
