French President Emmanuel Macron launched the countdown today, Monday, 200 days before the Paris 2024 Olympics, urging the French to engage more in sports as the country prepares to host the summer games for the first time in 100 years. Macron stated, "The Olympics will start in 200 days, and the countdown begins now; that is why we have a major national cause this year, which is sports." He continued, "Sports in schools, as you know, we have mandated 30 minutes of sports for all elementary school students, and increased physical activity periods in high schools, and I encourage all of you to engage in sports for at least 30 minutes daily, if not more, as much as possible." Macron also emphasized other goals set by France for the Olympics.
