Bou Saab from Maarab: Geagea Unconvinced by Traditional Dialogue

Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab confirmed that his meeting in Maarab with the head of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Geagea, revolved around the current vacuum in the country. He noted that he sensed Geagea's "lack of conviction regarding a traditional dialogue table, as has happened in the past," asserting that it is necessary to expedite a solution to end the presidential vacuum. He added, "Geagea's stance in this regard has not changed, although he is open to any consultation, communication, or understanding with all parties without exception, in order to achieve the desired goal. We discussed this matter, which requires further follow-up, and it is still early to address it in the media."

He pointed out that "we have witnessed many changes since my last visit to Maarab, starting with the tour of French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian, the last session for presidential elections, and the consensus of significant blocs on a single candidate, which is former minister Jihad Azour, culminating in the failure of all these attempts." Bou Saab reminded that in all his rounds, he did not propose any names nor promote any candidate and remains steadfast in his position, emphasizing the need to explore what is required following the failure of consensus.
