Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh at the King Hussein Bin Talal Conference Center in the Dead Sea, ahead of the Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference in Gaza. The meeting was attended by Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, during which they discussed the relations between the two countries, the regional situation, and the Israeli aggression against southern Lebanon. Mikati, in the presence of Bou Habib, welcomed the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. During the meeting, the President of the European Council stated, "We understand the Lebanese position regarding the issue of Syrian refugees in Lebanon," noting that European leaders are aware of the pressures this issue places on Lebanon and believe that the path to resolving this dilemma will accelerate after the European elections. He also suggested that the initiation of a ceasefire in Gaza would inevitably lead to a calming in southern Lebanon.
