At Least 35 Dead Due to Heavy Rains in Afghanistan

A local official reported that at least 35 people have died as flash floods swept across much of Kunar Province in eastern Afghanistan on Monday morning. Ihsanullah Ihsan, the director of the disaster management department in the province, told Xinhua News Agency that the floods were caused by heavy rains in Asadabad, the provincial capital, and some other areas of the province. Ihsan added, "Four people, including two children and a woman, died following the floods in Asadabad, and another woman died in the Asmar district of the province."
