Palestinian detainees released from Israeli prisons recounted the torture and insults they faced during their detention, including blindfolding, beating, and attacks by dogs, while human rights organizations condemned these violations.
In a press conference, Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City and one of the 50 detainees released last Monday, revealed horrifying details about the torture he and his colleagues endured in Israeli prisons.
Abu Salmiya stated, "We were subjected to severe torture... I was hit on the head and bled... They assaulted us with police dogs and batons. They broke my little finger." He added that two doctors died "in the interrogation basements," emphasizing that many of his medical colleagues are still detained. He pointed out that Israeli authorities prevent "medication and food from reaching the prisoners," resulting in significant weight loss among them.
Abu Salmiya called on international organizations to visit Israeli prisons to verify these violations.
