Frangieh to Paris Today as France Adopts "Third Option"

Frangieh to Paris Today as France Adopts

On the eve of the visit of Sleiman Frangieh, head of the Marada Movement, to Paris, diplomatic sources informed "The Call of the Nation" that the French approach to the presidential entitlements emphasizes that there can be no exit from the presidential vacancy without a third option that ensures national balance and does not give the impression that one team has triumphed over another. Frangieh will visit the French capital today, accompanied by former Minister Rony Araji.

The sources noted that Frangieh would hear from his French interlocutors about the necessity of searching for a presidential option outside the names of Jihad Azour and Frangieh. The sources revealed that there was a consensus among the quintet committee on two matters: first, the necessity of electing according to constitutional rules by moving to an open session with consecutive rounds. Second, they do not oppose the initiative of the Moderation Bloc as a potential solution between President Nabih Berri, who is calling for dialogue, and those who refuse it. This initiative involves summoning deputies to an electoral session that is not presided over by anyone, thus neither forming a custom nor violating the constitution, allowing for a presidential election.

The sources clarified that they are convinced that Hezbollah will not proceed to the presidential elections before the war in Gaza concludes. They stated that the quintet committee agreed not to propose any candidate names, leaving the matter to the Lebanese people themselves, according to "The Call of the Nation."
