The Minister of Economy and Trade in the caretaker government, Amin Salam, has referred 224 violation reports to the judiciary, filed by monitors from the Consumer Protection Directorate in the ministry. These reports involve various institutions, points of sale, owners of generators, restaurants, and butcheries due to documented violations of existing laws that protect consumer rights and penalize infringement on basic food needs and manipulation of product prices and quality. The violations include the following: 1- Samples not meeting specifications. 2- Failure to announce prices. 3- Non-compliance with hygiene and food safety standards. 4- Expired products. 5- Deception by mixing fresh and refrigerated meats. 6- Non-compliance with the designated price for private generators. 7- Failure to certify price lists from the Ministry of Tourism. 8- Non-compliance with specified weights. 9- Dealing with seized goods. 10- Exceeding profit margins. 11- Non-compliance with fuel prices. 12- Failure to present purchase invoices. 13- Non-compliance with parking fees. Minister Salam urged the judiciary to impose the harshest penalties on violators to protect consumer rights.
