As confrontations between Hezbollah and Israeli forces rise in southern Lebanon, and with widespread concern among Lebanese citizens about the expansion of the war, videos of hundreds of travelers crowding Beirut Airport to leave have circulated. However, these clips were shared by unverified accounts and were found to be old.
A Kuwaiti citizen recorded a very short video disproving the claims being propagated by these videos, confirming that the situation at the airport is quite normal. The Kuwaiti said in the video: "Today: the situation is normal, there is no crowding or anything."
Following a wave of rumors and fabricated videos about a "mass escape," a Kuwaiti citizen at Beirut International Airport stated: "Today: the situation is normal, there is no crowding or anything."
A senior official at the airport also confirmed that the activity is normal, explaining that the crowding is due to several flights arriving at the same time. As for the departing travelers, the congestion is attributed to the end of the Eid al-Adha holiday, where expatriates returned after a relatively long break to visit their countries and then go back to work.
