# Drug Trafficking Arrests in Beirut

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement today, Tuesday: "As part of the continuous monitoring carried out by the Internal Security Forces to curb drug trafficking and promotion across all Lebanese territories, and as a result of the diligent efforts made by the Beirut Investigation Detachment, information was received regarding individuals promoting drugs from their vehicles in the Tarik Al-Jadida area. Subsequently, the detachment initiated field and investigative procedures to identify those involved. Through intensive investigations, they were able to identify two suspects, namely: A. A. (born in 1996, Syrian) and B. M. (born in 1995, Lebanese).

On May 24, 2024, after careful observation and surveillance, a patrol from the detachment caught them red-handed while promoting drugs from a "Mercedes C230" vehicle in the mentioned area. Upon searching them and the car, a quantity of drugs prepared for distribution was seized as follows:

- 14 envelopes, each containing about half a gram of Salvia.

- Two plastic containers with remnants of cocaine.

- 20 Tramadol pills.

- An envelope containing approximately 1 gram of marijuana.

- An envelope containing 3 pieces of hashish.

In a related context, on May 25, 2024, in the same area, the following individuals were arrested: S. H. (born in 2000, Lebanese) and M. A. (born in 1989, Lebanese) on an unregistered motorcycle. A military-grade pistol containing a magazine with one 8 mm round and a quantity of drugs prepared for promotion was seized as follows:

- 22 envelopes, each containing about half a gram of Salvia.

- 20 Karyzol pills.

- Two plastic containers, each containing approximately 1 gram of cocaine.

- An envelope containing hashish.

The detainees, along with the seized items, have been handed over to the relevant authority for legal action as directed by the competent judiciary."
