The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Department announced today, Friday, that "as part of the ongoing monitoring done by the Internal Security Forces to pursue those involved in armed robbery operations in various Lebanese regions and arrest them, particularly in the airport road area. As a result of extensive investigations and inquiries, the Information Branch managed to identify members of a dangerous gang, including: M. J. (born in 2004, Lebanese), A. H. A. (born in 2008, Syrian), minor B. Sh. (born in 2005, Syrian), and Q. H. A. (born in 2006, Syrian).
On April 20, 2024, after precise surveillance, the Special Forces of the Information Branch executed two simultaneous and significant operations in the Al-Kokody and Haret Hreik areas, resulting in their arrest. During the arrest attempts, the first three attempted to flee and brandished military weapons and a hand grenade at the forces' personnel, but they were subdued and arrested. The first one was found in possession of an "AK-47" rifle and a hand grenade, while the second had a military pistol, a quantity of drugs, and a motorcycle (which he was stopped riding). A search of the third suspect's house revealed a "pump-action" shotgun used in robbery operations and a quantity of drugs.
During the investigation, they confessed to being part of a gang formed in collaboration with others that committed more than 100 armed robberies, snatchings, and motorcycle thefts, extending from the airport highway to Tayouneh and from Khaldeh towards Gallery Samaan, passing through Shweifat. They all stated they were using drugs.
Accordingly, and based on the relevant judiciary, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces disseminates the photographs of the detainees and requests anyone who fell victim to their actions and recognizes them to contact the Mount Lebanon Information Branch at the number 513732-01, in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures."
