Arrest of Motorcycle Thief in Mount Lebanon

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "As part of the daily monitoring conducted by the Internal Security Forces to reduce motorcycle thefts in various Lebanese areas, information was obtained regarding an individual executing thefts in several regions of Mount Lebanon. A video documenting him carrying out multiple motorcycle thefts in different areas circulated on one of the social media platforms."

The statement continued, "Consequently, the specialized units within the Information Branch commenced field and inquiry procedures to uncover his identity and apprehend him. As a result of investigations and inquiries, they identified him as H. S. (born in 1995, Lebanese), who has a criminal record related to drug offenses, theft, and pickpocketing, and is a prior detainee."

The statement went on, "On January 27, 2024, after careful surveillance, one of the branch's patrols managed to apprehend him in the act in the Mariyaja area while he was stealing a motorcycle from in front of a building. Upon searching him, a lock-cutting tool and other implements used for theft were found in his possession."

It noted that "during the investigation, he admitted to committing a significant number of motorcycle thefts within the Mount Lebanon governorate." The statement concluded, "Legal measures were taken against him, and he was handed over along with the seized items to the relevant authority as directed by the judiciary."
